Freight Rate Calculator

Enter your own rate and the size of the load to see the line haul, fuel surcharge, extra charges and total, and what it works out to per mile.

It uses only the numbers you type. There is no market rate data here, so it will not tell you what a lane is paying; it tells you what your rate adds up to.

Common questions

Does this calculator show current market freight rates?

No. It has no rate data of any kind. You enter your own rate and it does the arithmetic: quantity times rate, plus fuel surcharge and any extra charges.

How is a fuel surcharge calculated?

Three ways are supported: a flat amount added to the load, an amount per mile multiplied by the trip miles, or a percentage of the line haul. Use whichever your agreement specifies.

How do I convert pounds to hundredweight or tons?

Divide pounds by 100 for hundredweight (cwt) and by 2,000 for short tons. A 51,540 lb load is 515.40 cwt or 25.77 tons.

Can I turn the result into a quote?

Yes. "Create a quote with these numbers" opens the Trucking Quote Generator with the line haul, fuel surcharge and extra charges already entered, ready for your customer and load details.
